glimpse

Created in 2017 and co-choreographed with Los Angeles based dancer/choreographer Genna Moroni. 

glimpse is inspired by a quote by writer Hayao Miyazaki in which he states:

“I’ve become skeptical of the unwritten rule that just because a boy and girl appear in the same feature, a romance must ensue. Rather, I want to portray a slightly different relationship, one where the two mutually inspire each other to live… if I’m able to, then perhaps I’ll be closer to portraying a true expression of love.”

 

Through a series of vignettes, glimpse explores two individuals and their own struggles with gender societal norms.  Each longing to express what they have, for a long time, repressed. Through solos of self-exploration and duets of interconnectedness, we seek to unlock freedom, acceptance, and love.

Create a space of support, co-existence, and harmony.

 

That these journeys we go through as individuals can inspire one another to live.
